Voopoo Argus XT vs MT - What are the Key Differences?

The Voopoo Argus series offers a long line of vaping kits, ranging from the Voopoo Argus Pro to the Voopoo Argus GT 1 and 2 that appeal to the masses. With 11 different creations that differ in not just dimensions and style but practical features, there is truly something for all levels of vaping.

Futuristic and extravagant, there are plenty of pod kits but also a few mods are thrown in for good measure. The latest in the collection are the Voopoo Argus XT and Voopoo Argus MT, a pair of slick mods that offer different battery performances but both vape up to 100W with IP68-rated technology. This review will compare both and see which comes out on top.

Argus XT vs Argus MT - Comparing the Two Mods
A major difference between the two mods released at the same time is the different battery capabilities. Intentionally Voopoo has provided two different choices to cover all preferences. The Voopoo MT provides a whopping 3000mAh battery, which is impressive by any brand or mod standards. But with the Voopoo XT, it perhaps stands out even more because you can run two external options - a 18650 battery or a 217000. The latter is rare because typically mods are supported by dual 21700 but the XT gives plenty of power from one, which means less weight and accessories to carry around as spares. With either device, vapers never have to worry about running out of charge while out and about.

Aside from that, setup and functionality are similar with the same tank used on both, and the menu settings, as well as power modes, are the same. Both are supported by a wide range of coil options and boast equally impressive cloud and flavour performance.

Which Coils Can You Use From Voopoo?

With both kits, you get the low-resistance TPP-DM1 0.15 and TPP-DM2 0.2 Sub-Ohm coils. The former vapes between 60-80W with a recommendation of 65-75W from the max 100W devices and the latter at a lower power of 40-60W (recommended between 50-55W). Both offer a rich and dense flavour that maximises the sweetness of high VG e-liquids, which should be paired with the device. You can use 50/50 e-liquids with either coil but a 70VG/30PG ratio would be better in our opinion after the tests that we did.

There is plenty of power from the coils which mean thick clouds of vapour for those who enjoy it. If you want to vape less wattage, the TPP-DM4 coil is available at 32-40W and you can maximise the power of both devices with the TPP-DM3 which is recommended at 80-100W, making the most of the adjustable airflow. Regardless of which you pick, ramp-up time is quick and the reaction from both kits with the Voopoo TPP coils when pressing the fire button is instant.

Functionality and How to Use the Device
Like most vape kits, it’s five clicks of the fire button to turn it on and off. What’s interesting is the additional switch you have on both devices to add an extra layer of security and lock the wattage if needed when vaping.

On the screen you have the Ohms, Voltage, seconds puffed visible on the screen. To access the menu you press the up and down buttons together. From there you can activate the various power modes which include:

1.Smart Mode - This automatically matches the maximum wattage from the selected coil.
2.RBA Mode - The adjustable wattage option to change your power from 5W in increments up to the max of 100W.
3.Temperature Control - Three customisable vaping modes with Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel coils to alter the heat of the vape.
4.Turbo Mode - Boosts the vapour production by reaching the maximum wattage level of either device.

Appearance Breakdown
The designs for the XT and MT are in keeping with the sleek and smooth vape kits we’ve seen in the past from Voopoo. Examples from the Voopoo Drag and Voopoo Vinci collections demonstrate excellent build quality and the trend at the moment with leather panels on the sides of the devices. It’s the same with the XT and MT. Each has a handy on-off switch to prevent the Argus devices from turning on in the handbag or pocket but positioned in different areas on each mod - at the top of the device on the XT and below the screen settings on the MT.

As well as the leather panels, there is a sturdy chrome finish that’s very similar in appearance to the Geekvape Aegis range. Both are comfortable to hold and grip in the hand, with an easy battery door to open on the XT at the bottom. Each is stylish in its own right and with pretty similar settings and performance.

Any Disadvantages?
·There is a button rattle with both devices
·Gap for a lanyard that some may like but is not needed unless you want to attach your own. Quite heavy devices to hold around your neck, this type of feature is usually more applicable to small pod devices

Final Thoughts
There are several reasons why any vape mod fan would opt for either of these devices. Super long battery life from both is a big plus, with the option of a removable 21700 on the Argus XT a particular plus. Each stands out for its respective designs, with the MT a sleeker and slightly slimmer version that’s comfortable to carry around and long-lasting with a 3000mAh battery.

In terms of performance, the functionality of both is fantastic with easy-to-navigate and clear-to-read screens. The power and density of your e-liquids are fantastic from the Sub-Ohm TPP coils, which are supported by the various power modes available from the XT and MT, maximising cloud performance and flavour, via the adjustable airflow features. Last of all, you have excellent protection and prevention of dangerous mishaps with the lock and unlock switches on both kits, as well as a high number of safety protection functions built into both. Which you like the look of more may be the deciding factor between these two excellent vape mods from Voopoo.
