On one side of the Xros 5, there’s a USB-C connector for fast charging of the built-in 1500 mAh battery. The battery life aligns well with the included cartridges. You can vape while charging.
Right next to it, a button allows you to produce vapor and access the menu to fine-tune the pod’s settings. You can vape either by pressing the button, by inhaling, or by keeping both functions active—your choice.
On the opposite side, a slider adjusts the airflow entering the coil. The draw changes depending on how much air is allowed into the cartridge. The narrower the opening, the tighter the draw, in a mouth-to-lung style. Conversely, a wider opening provides an airier draw, though still slightly restricted with the Xros 5.
The screen is in color. The display theme can be customized with high contrast options. From the control screen, you can change the theme, animation, puff counter, and more.
The pod provides automatic power (with a slight variation available via eco mode) for cartridges with a coil resistance between 0.6 and 1.2 ohm.
For 0.4-ohm cartridges, the power is manually adjustable up to a maximum of 30 W. However, be aware that this setting is particularly power-hungry. A recharge will be necessary to last through a full day.
Two cartridges are included with the Xros 5 pod. The coils are sealed and non-replaceable. Each has a 3 ml capacity. One cartridge features a 0.6-ohm Xros Series coil, and the other a 0.8-ohm coil. Both use mesh for excellent performance with fruity-flavored e-liquids. By adjusting the airflow, you can also achieve great results with dessert-flavored liquids.
The coil is a new model called Corex 3. Corex 2 models (available in 0.4/0.6/0.8/1 and 1.2 ohm) are compatible with the Xros 5.
In terms of vaping experience, there’s nothing to criticize. The flavor output is excellent and sharply defined. The Xros 5’s simplicity makes vaping enjoyable. The full visibility of the cartridge is also appreciated, allowing you to monitor e-liquid levels down to the last drop. A simple, well-built, and effective pod.
A more compact model without a screen, but compatible with the same cartridges, accompanies the Xros 5. It also has a 1500 mAh battery. The Xros 5 Mini proves to be just as effective.
