8 Vaping Statistics That Are Both Fun & Weird

Digging out useful and fun vaping statistics is a chore, let me tell you that!

So much of it is obscured in misinformation, buried, or downright false… but I did some excavation work so you don’t have to… and the verdict is in!

Vaping seems to be going strong!

Well, as strong as it can go considering all the roadblocks that are constantly put up to trip our whole industry.

But…

The number of vapers is going up… the worth of the whole industry is exploding… and it looks like US politicians are not looking to squash vaping [at least, from the paltry number of vaping-related bills they’ve submitted to various legislatures].

Check out the goodies I’ve collected for you below.

In 2021, close to 70 million vapers worldwide
Well, the number was around 68 million… but I bet we added 2 million in the last two months? The number of vapers has been steadily rising for a while now, despite anti-vaping campaigns raging all around us. Sad to think how many more people would not be smoking today if this misinformation war wasn’t in full effect.

The number of vapers in the US grew by 100%
In 2017, around 2.8% of the US adult population was using vapes.

Today, that number is closer to 6%.

And that’s not the number I pulled out a hat — this 2021 Gallup poll confirms it.

According to the same poll, most vapers are in their twenties.

I take a bit of comfort from this — at least we’re raising marginally smarter generations who know not to swallow Big Tobacco propaganda hook, line, and sinker.

The UK is doing better than the US
At least when it comes to the percentages of vapers.

Right now, there are around 3.3 million vapers in the UK. That’s around 7.1% of the adult population. Meanwhile, the number of smokers is shrinking.

The UK plans to be smoke-free by 2030. While I doubt they’ll be able to accomplish that, they seem to be on the right path. Especially since the authorities there recognize that vape pens and other vape devices are a legitimate cessation tool.

10% of the general US population has no clue what e-cigarettes are
This is actually not bad at all.

This little vaping statistic tells us that 90% of people know what e-cigarettes are. Now, would it be safe to assume that they know that e-cigarettes are a great way to quit smoking?

Well, I highly doubt that… They probably know about it because of all those bombastic headlines about the lung disease [that ended up having nothing to do with vaping]. There’s a lot of damage that we’ll need to undo to get the general population to accept vaping as a viable smoking cessation tool.

Vaping industry to grow by 6% in 2022
Doesn’t seem much, right?

Buuuut… it translates to around $3-4 billion, give or take a million or two.

This prediction by Technavio.com takes into account all the regulatory shenanigans and roadblocks currently being thrown up by the politicians and the Big Tobacco lobbyists. So if the industry still manages to pull some growth — despite all that — it’s a small miracle.

56% of countries heavily regulate [or outright ban] vaping
So I’m guessing we have it good here in the US, right?

I mean, they’re just banning flavors and new vape gear… they’re not banning vaping altogether.

Well, 109 countries in the world have gone on record declaring war against vaping. You can find what they are in this Global Tobacco Control database.

Proposed bills dealing with vaping clock in at 0.001% in the US
But we hear SO.MUCH.ABOUT.THEM!

Don’t we?

It’s like, every other day there’s a new bill introduced to ‘squash underage vaping’. Or to ‘regulate a dangerous industry’. Or something similar.

When, in fact, there have only been 131 bills introduced in various State legislatures. Which is still around 100 too many… but what can you do?

Australia can [and will] fine you 96 average monthly salaries…
… for selling vapes to anyone under the age of 18 years.

Even if they’re ordering online. Even if you have no way of knowing their age. Even if they have a healthy moustache and look 25.

In all honesty, though, a lot of countries are claiming down on sales to minors. But still — AUD440,000 + 5 years in prison as the maximum sentence seems a bit harsh. Especially when you know that selling weed to minors only carries a fine of AUD462,000.

Now that you know the latest vaping stats, it’s time to pounce on our new dry herb vaporizer device. The number of vapers is going up, you know. And this baby is selling out like hotcakes. You don’t want to miss out on it.
